Language education in Türkiye: Turkish and English programs

Turkish preparatory year, Turkish proficiency and English-taught programs: what international students should know.

Universities in Türkiye offer both Turkish- and English-taught programs. The language of your program determines which proficiency documents you need.

Turkish-taught programs

Usually require Turkish proficiency; students without it can attend a preparatory year at university Turkish language centres.

English-taught programs

Usually require TOEFL, IELTS or the university's own proficiency exam; students below the required level may join an English preparatory class.
